For many years, Emma suffered in silence from depression and anxiety because she did not see that someone of her history and background could experience such profound mental illness. Due to not speaking up, she reached a crisis point a few months before her eighteenth birthday. Now, as a nineteen-year-old university student receiving treatment for anxiety and depression, she wants to make sure her experiences haven’t been in vain by working to ensure no one feels they have to suffer in silence as she did.
